Jim Maisano became the Director of the Westchester County Consumer Protection Department in 2018. Before accepting this position, Jim was elected to 11 terms on the Westchester County Board of Legislators representing District 11 (New Rochelle and Pelham). He was a strong proponent of independent and bipartisan government during his public service. First elected in 1997, Jim held various leadership positions, including Vice Chair (2014-2017), Minority Leader (2003, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013), and Minority Whip (2002, 2008 & 2009).
Jim has practiced law for more than 25 years and now works as a sole practitioner for real estate, wills, estates, and probate matters. He previously practiced at the New York offices of international law firms Crowell & Moring and Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, where he worked in the areas of commercial litigation, real estate and government relations. Earlier in his career, Jim work at New York City law firms for insurance defense and commercial litigation.
Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1984 to 1988. He worked as a landing support specialist for embarkation and logistics. Jim achieved the rank of Sergeant and supervised and trained a platoon of Marines. He was honorably discharged and received several awards and commendations during his service to our country.
Jim earned his B.A. in history and political science from the City University of New York at Hunter College in 1989. Jim received his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1992 and made the student commencement address at the law school graduation. Jim also graduated from Iona Prep in New Rochelle in 1981.
Jim is married to Jean, and they have a son Michael. The Maisano Family has two dogs named Pippin and Ellie, both adopted from Pet Rescue. The Maisano family fosters dogs for Pet Rescue, providing a home for abandoned dogs until permanent homes can be found and they runs a highly successful Toys for Tots drive with the Marine Corps League each holiday season.
